  • PC & Network inventory

Scan computers without having to deploy agents

Lansweeper network inventory comes with a variety of scanning methods, which can be used standalone or in combination with others. While one agent based scanning method is available, using it is completely optional. Most of the Lansweeper scanning methods in fact do not require agents on your machines.
A wide range of computer details are scanned for Windows machines. Hardware, software, event logs, Windows updates and product keys are just a few of the items you'll be able to report on.

Scan offsite computers

Lansweeper allows you to scan offsite computers that are not part of your network. An agent based scanning method is included in your installation that takes full, local inventories of your client machines. These scan files can then be integrated, manually or automatically, into your database.
Agent based scanning is ideal if you have employees that are frequently on the move. Running a scan takes just a few seconds and your workers can email the subsequent scan results while on the road.

Discover network devices

Lansweeper discovers, scans and organizes your network devices such as printers, routers and switches.
Scanned devices are automatically sorted into categories based on their device type. This make it easy for you to find the ones you need. You can custom sort devices based on IP address as well or perform searches for particular devices through the web console.

Scan on the fly, on a schedule or upon login

The reason Lansweeper offers not one, but many scanning methods for network inventory is to give you complete control over how your network is scanned. Your scanning needs may vary depending on the size of your company and its internal dynamics.
Lansweeper gives you the option of scanning your computers on a schedule or when they're logged into. You can also quickly rescan one or more machines through the web or configuration console.

  • Software inventory & Audit

Find software installed in your network

Software inventory information for all network computers is automatically scanned and displayed on computer webpages, including version number and publisher. Software packages unknown to you can be researched using the Google search button. Rescanning takes place on a regular basis to ensure that you are viewing relevant and accurate software details at all times.

Access detailed reports

A number of built-in reports and report examples are available so you can assess software installations in your network as a whole.

Authorize software packages

To ensure system resources are not being wasted on unneeded software, you can authorize software packages as they are scanned. Current unauthorized installations can be removed using the Remote Uninstall tool and you will be notified of any new installations that are detected over time.

Uninstall software

Included in all Lansweeper licenses is access to the premium tools, one of which is Remote Uninstall. The Remote Uninstall tool is linked on all computer webpages and can be used to remove unauthorized programs from your machines.

Track software changes

The Lansweeper database retains a history for a number of computer details, including software inventory. Through the various history pages available in the web console you can track any software installations or uninstallations that took place.

  • Asset management

Find all computers and devices in your network

Lansweeper asset management automatically scans, and rescans when necessary, all of your network computers and devices. PCs that are not part of your network can be inventoried as well, thanks to the agent based scanning method included in premium subscription plans.

Use one of the overview pages or custom sort your machines

Computers and devices are automatically sorted into categories to provide you with quick overviews of your network. Devices are organized by device type; computers are organized by domain, model, OS and OU. IP range locations can be created as well to custom sort your machines.

Manage users and machines through custom actions

On each computer, user and device webpage you will find an actions screen that allows you to perform common administrative tasks. Access Windows services on a client machine, perform a Wake-on-LAN, reset a user's password and more! The possibilities are endless, as you can add your own custom actions as well.

Track changes that occur

Your Lansweeper installation retains a history for computer software, as well as a variety of hardware and other details. All of these changes can be tracked through the web console. Simply choose one of the asset inventory items from the dropdown list to view the changes that occurred for that item.

Hundreds of built-in reports

Your Lansweeper installation comes packed with hundreds of built-in reports. Reports are available for both computers and devices and cover a wide range of topics such as software, hardware, computer services, active directory, printer toner statuses and more!

View and prioritize reports using the dashboard

Both built-in and custom reports can be prioritized and added to report pages. This allows you to review the specific network information you are interested in.

  • Active directory management

Scan multiple domains and selected OUs

Active Scanning supports a limitless number of domains, retrieving both computer and user information. OU filtering and domain controller site filtering are available if you wish to limit scanning to certain network areas. When scanning has been completed, surf to one of the overview pages in the web console to drill down to specific organisational units for Active Directory management.

Scan computers as they come online

Active Scanning scans (or rescans) your domain computers as they come online. This ensures that you are always accessing up-to-date computer records.

Track user logons

Users are scanned as they log into a machine. A history is kept of all user logons, which allows you to determine who used what machine and when. You can add your own user pictures to the web console as well, to make employees easily identifiable.

Create active directory reports

Lansweeper will help you manage active directory by providing reports on a variety of Active Directory user and computer details. A number of built-in reports are available to track down incomplete AD records and you can build your own reports from scratch as well. Powered by SQL, the Lansweeper report builder provides you with the necessary tools for flexible and customizable reporting.

Automatically purge obsolete records

Decommissioned some hardware? Cleanup options are available to automatically delete from your database or set to non-active computers that have been disabled or removed in active directory.

  • SNMP network management

Scan and view SNMP device information

SNMP management devices are scanned based on a schedule specified by you. Scan results can be found in the Lansweeper web console. Each device has its own webpage, listing device details such as name, MAC, IP address, vendor, model and serial number for printers.

Access device overviews

The SNMP inventory overview, which lists devices by type, will allow you to easily find the devices you need. You can also custom sort devices by IP range or perform custom searches for specific devices.

Track printer toner statuses

SNMP scanning retrieves toner information for your printers, an extremely valuable feature in busy office environments. Built-in reports are available to notify you of low toner statuses, allowing you to quickly determine how many cartridges need purchasing.

Make manual changes

While device information is scanned automatically, we believe in giving you manual control over your scan results as well. You can surf to any device's webpage to edit its scan results or submit additional device information such as purchase and warranty date. We also provide you with 10 custom fields that can be renamed to your liking.

  • License compliance audit

Track software license keys

Lansweeper license audit automatically scans your network for several hundreds different types of license keys. Supported publishers include Microsoft, Adobe and Autodesk. Keys and product IDs are returned and can be found on computer webpages or in the built-in product key reports. Additional reports can be built from scratch.

Track software license purchases

The configuration console allows you to perform license compliance management of both operating systems and other software.

Track product pricing

Lansweeper can help predict the financial impact of becoming fully compliant. With pricing information submitted for each license item, Lansweeper will calculate the cost of filling in any missing licenses, for both individual license items and your network as a whole.

Create detailed reports

Reports on the compliance status of your network can be exported through the report builder. The builder also allows you to retrieve even more detailed information. Want to list only those licenses of which a certain number are in use? Or calculate the percentage of licenses used for each license item? All of this can be achieved through custom reports.
